There was something soft in the way his eyes tilted down, like he was carrying a thought he hadn’t spoken yet. I painted him in loose layers, letting the paper peek through as much as the moment itself. I held back from defining too much, wanting the light to do most of the work. Sometimes stillness can say the most.
