I started working on book pages because I wanted the figure to exist inside a world of words. The text underneath is not random. It is part of the composition, part of the meaning. A body emerging from a page feels different than a body on blank paper.
These pieces take longer to make and they carry more weight because of it. The history in the paper becomes part of the painting.
