The cowboy was always a fantasy, and I think that is exactly what makes him interesting to paint. The hat, the open shirt, the dust and the swagger. There is a whole mythology built into that silhouette and I wanted to see what happened when I put my hand to it.
These are love letters to a particular kind of American image, painted with affection and a little irreverence.
